Wooden Gravure Printing Roller

In commercial rotogravure-used for furniture foil, laminate flooring, and decorative paper-the roller is strictly metal, but it is "wooden" in pattern. The manufacturing process uses actual solid wood as the master template.

*Core Material: High-grade seamless steel tube, plated with copper for engraving and hard chrome for durability.

*The "Wooden" Aspect: Manufacturers select physical wood boards (e.g., cherry, oak) as the original artwork. These boards are scanned at ultra-high resolutions (up to 2000 dpi) to capture every fiber and pore .

*Result: The resulting metal cylinder prints a "wooden" image onto paper or vinyl.

 

 

 

The manufacturing of wood grain printing rollers follows strict process standards to withstand high-speed printing and ensure the clarity of the wood grain texture:

*Base material: The roller body itself is made of seamless steel pipe, high-quality special steel, or alloy steel, ensuring stability and concentricity under high-intensity operation

*Surface treatment

A layer of copper is plated on the surface of the steel roller as the base layer for engraving patterns.

After copper plating, precise wood grain pits (ink-carrying holes) are engraved on the copper layer through electronic engraving or laser engraving.

After the engraving is completed, a layer of hard chromium is plated on the surface, making the roller surface hardness reach HRC 58-62, significantly enhancing wear resistance and corrosion resistance, and prolonging service life.
